FALL GOLF OUTING
We had a great turnout for this year's Fall Golf Outing - held on September 20 at Tournament Club of Iowa in Polk City, IA.

PAC PHONE DRIVE

ABC of Iowa had a GREAT year at the Iowa Capitol this year. We were able to accomplish our long-time goal of banning the use of project labor agreements on public projects. This type of legislation is at the core of ABC of Iowa's merit shop beliefs - and is why our Board of Directors makes our advocacy goals a priority every year.

However, our work isn't done. We must continue to be a strong presence at the capitol to protect this new law, and work on other opportunities to improve the business climate for our members.

If you'd like to donate, please click here! Thank you!

OSHA SILICA REGULATION UPDATE

Enforcement of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration's (OSHA) silica standard as it applies to the construction industry will begin on Sept. 23.

During the first 30 days of enforcement, OSHA will carefully evaluate good faith efforts taken by employers in their attempts to meet the new construction silica standard. OSHA will render compliance assistance and outreach to assure that covered employers are fully and properly complying with its requirements. Given the novelty of the Table 1 approach, OSHA will pay particular attention to assisting employers in fully and properly implementing the controls in the table. OSHA will assist employers who are making good faith efforts to meet the new requirements to assure understanding and compliance.

Click here to view the email that was sent out on 9/22.

Our Safety Director, Dale Erickson, is available for Safety Training and any and all OSHA questions you might have! Contact him at 515-681-1542.
