Entries are being accepted starting January 8th for our annual Excellence in Construction Awards, where we honor the state’s most innovative and high-quality construction projects.



 


Showcase the success your company had this year by entering your noteworthy projects before the February 21st, 2020 deadline. Your entry will be considered for our organization’s most coveted recognition – 2019 Project of the Year Award.

Entry Requirements

If you want to want to earn "Project of the Year", follow these steps carefully:
Creating A Successful Entry

Eligibility
Eligible projects must have a completion date between October 19th, 2018 and April 17th, 2020.

Be sure to review the application criteria and eligibility prior to entering your submission.

Safety Issues / Fatalities

  • A company that experiences a safety-related fatality of a direct employee in the United States within the current program year is not eligible for an EIC award.
  • A company that experienced a safety-related fatality of a direct employee in the United States within two and three years of the current program year is required to provide additional information regarding action that has been taken following the fatality.
  • A project that involves prime, multiprime or subcontractors with a safety-related fatality is not eligible to be considered for an EIC award.
  • A company that does not provide its OSHA Form 300 and OSHA Form 300A for the year(s) the submitted project was under construction is not eligible for an EIC award.
  • A company that has not signed the Construction Coalition for a Drug- and Alcohol-Free Workplace pledge at drugfreeconstruction.org is not eligible for an EIC award.
  • A company that does not have a written safety and health policy manual is not eligible for an EIC award.
     

References Needed
Reference letters are required—request those letters sooner than later!


Keep Records
Ensure that all man-hours are recorded throughout the project, including for any subcontractors you’ve hired.

Maintain a comprehensive list of all subcontractors on the project and identify which are fellow ABC members.
Gather your OSHA 300 and 300A forms for all years the project was under construction.


Project Progress Photos Needed
Take high-quality photographs along the way so you can document the project in progress, in addition to those great shots of the final product.

Represent Iowa at the ABC National Competition where you'll go up against the best in the country.

ABC of Iowa Excellence in Construction (EIC) winners taking home 1st or 2nd place in their respective category are eligible to enter those winning projects into the ABC National EIC.
